Spring Training Begins

Bobby V. discusses joining the Red Sox and what 2012 looks like for a team that was so disappointing at the end of 2011 (see my previous thoughts on 'the collapse' here and here).

I was certainly not happy about the Sox hiring Valentine to replace Francona. I sent this reaction to Mr. Fish upon reading that the Sox were merely talking to Bobby V.:

But my opinion of Bobby Valentine has taken a turn. His attitude that this year is going to be tough and that now is the time to work hard and play good, solid baseball, is exactly what I as a fan want and need to hear.

And we've got a healthy Youk, a wicked hot (in more than one way, according to my wife...) Ellsbury, and a decent, if not amazingly amazing starting rotation. Carl Crawford is getting a second chance with me if he can listen to the damn batting coach and don't plant your front foot half-way to the mound! Hell, even Daisuke Matsuzaka might turn out ok after getting Tommy John and now having coaches that let him pitch his change-up...

I'm honestly just as excited for this season as I was for last season (We can only go up, right? Right!?). The only thing that could make the start of this Spring Training better for me would be some games at JetBlue Park at Fenway South (I know, it's a dumb name.) with my best bud, Brandon, beers and dogs in hand. Next year, friend. Next year...
