Disney World. Day One.

We left home at 11:30 pm. I drove until 7 am. I was well and truly exhausted. Erin drove for an hour or so and I took over again after breakfast at a Chick-fil-a.

I think I consumed about two gallons of coffee overnight. Totally worth it though. No traffic at all until Florida and we had most of the day to get settled and relax...

Beatrix fell asleep after our last bathroom and gas stop in Daytona. She didn't wake up until we pulled into All Star Movies parking lot.

The guy at the counter, Rodney, was probably the nicest guy I've ever met. He gave Beatrix a stuffed Minnie Mouse and gave us a Disney photo frame (a $19.95 value!). We had checked in online earlier so the check in at the hotel took all of two minutes.

After taking all of our stuff to the room we went back down to the gift shop to get Beatrix an autograph book. She's planning on filling it up quickly.

Then per Beatrix's request we all went down to the kiddie pool. The fact that it was raining was irrelevant, apparently.

After swim time we got changed and boarded a bus for Epcot. From there we rode the Monorail around to the Contemporary Resort. There we got some dinner at the Contempo Cafe. They have a sign there that tells you how to order your food from a kiosk, get your drink and dessert, and check out. But if you don't read the sign and are running on about an hour of sleep the process is inscrutable and frustrating. Thankfully the cashier took pity on me and talked me through it like Maverick talking Merlin down to land.

Then it was well and truly time to head back to the hotel and get ready for bed. Hopefully we'll have a nice long sleep to prepare a full day in the parks tomorrow.
