Erin and Beatrix and I went to Asheville this past weekend. We picked up my coworker, Rob, on the way and met another coworker, Jim, there.
I didn't get a lot of photos during the trip but I made sure I got some Saturday at The Biltmore. I had never been before and I truly enjoyed the whole experience.
They don't allow photography inside. I'm sure it would slow down an already super-slow tour through the house. Flashes probably aren't very good for the tapestries and upholstry, either. Regardless, I got some decent photos outside the house.
As cool as the house looks from the front – that one above is from when we we're waiting in line to go in – the views off the back porch (I guess that's what it's called?) are spectacular, especially with the leaves turning...
Rob took one of us. Beatrix refused to be photographed.
The Biltmore is a great experience. It's one of those things that you really have to see first-hand to appreciate. Next time, though, I think we will come during a less busy time of year and perhaps without a bored kid... Either way we will definitely be back.
